Namak Para Namak Pare Recipe- Namak pare or namak paare is a quick snack recipe which is usually a common snack item in our households especially during festivals like Holi and Diwali. The recipe is basically made using maida, but you can also add semolina (sooji) which would give the snack dish extra crispy flavor…

It is one of the most popular Indian snack recipe other than shakkar para , a kids’ favorite snack too.

Maida- 2 cup or 1/2 kg

Salt- 1 table spoon

Red chilli powder-1 table spoon

GaramMasala-1/2 table spoon

Sugar-1 table spoon

Baking Powder-1 table spoon

Oil- to fry

  1. Sieve maida in the open plate. Add salt, chilli powder, garam masala, sugar and baking powder to the maida and mix well. Now add 1/2 cup (approx. 10 table spoons) of oil to the dry ingredients. Rub with hands to mix oil in all the maida.
  2. Knead the maida dough by adding little water at a time. Dough should be stiff as it gets softer later. Cover the dough with cotton cloth and leave it for at least 15 to 20 minutes.
  3. Knead the dough again for a while to give it a smooth texture. Now divide the dough into two equal parts. Take one log of dough and roll it to make a large chapatti.
  4. Now fold it from left and right side, then from top and bottom to make five layers of the dough.
  5. Again roll the dough to spread it in square shape to get thick layer of dough. Layer should not be very thick or very thin.
  6. Using a sharp knife, cut the dough layer into small squares.
  7. Heat oil in a deep frying pan or a karahi. Once the oil is heated, test it so that it should not be very cold or very hot.
  8. Now slowly add namak paras  into the oil for frying. Fry at low medium flame from both sides.
  9. When fried, drain on a paper to remove extra oil. Similarly fry all the namak paras in batches.
  10. Once extra oil is drained and namak paras are cooled up to the room temperature, store them in an air tight container and serve or eat as required.
